Milk crates, old 2X4's and splintered plywood nailed together by nearsighted musclebound carpenters made up most of the benches and racks. Pulleys and twisted cable from a nearby Venice boatyard, a dozen Olympic bars, bent and rusty, tons of plates scattered throughout the 2500 square foot floor, dumbbells up to 160's that rattled at broken welds added final touches to complete unquestionably the greatest gym in the world.

In 2006, Joe Weidere also received a Lifetime Acheivement Award. In 2007, there were DeForrest "Moe" Most - Santa Monica Muscle Beach Pioneer , Tony Pearson - Mr. America 1978, Pro Mr. Universe 1980, Franco Columbu - Mr. Universe 1970, Mr. Olympia 1976, 1981, Pudgy Stockton - Santa Monica Muscle Beach Pioneer, and Jack LaLanne - Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2008, there were Zabo Kozewski - Most Muscular 1969, Reg Park - Mr Universe 1951, '58, '65, Sara Hirsch Clark - Miss Muscle Beach 1948.
